Kidchella | Gold Coast Community Event

When Surfers Paradise Beach transformed into a festival playground for Kidchella, the City of Gold Coast wanted an environment that felt colourful, playful and every bit as exciting as the program itself.

Produced by the City of Gold Coast, Kidchella brought two days of free family entertainment to the beachfront, with live DJs, silent discos, street-style basketball, skate zones, a Ferris wheel, art activities and plenty more. Architects of Vibe helped bring the festival world to life through creative styling, custom event structures and on-brand signage throughout the site.

The Brief

Kidchella isn't your average kids' event. It needed to feel like a proper festival, just one designed for little humans and their families.

AOV's role was to create visual moments that captured the fun, energy and personality of Kidchella while helping give the beachfront event a strong visual identity.

The entrance was an important part of that experience, creating an immediate sense of arrival and giving families a reason to stop, take a photo and step into the Kidchella world.

The Experience

The hero of the event was a striking entrance structure, complete with the Kidchella branding and festival artwork. Positioned right on the beachfront, it created an eye-catching arrival moment that reflected the energy of the event, quite literally.

Throughout the site, AOV continued the look with playful festival structures, colourful hanging tassels and custom signage that helped tie the different event zones together.

The result was a space that felt cohesive without taking itself too seriously. Bright, playful and designed to make kids feel like they had stepped into their very own festival.

The Result

From the first photo at the entrance to the last dance on the beachfront, Kidchella was designed to feel like one big weekend of good vibes.

AOV's styling and theming helped turn the City of Gold Coast's family festival into a colourful, recognisable event environment that felt completely at home on Surfers Paradise Beach.

Because when you're creating an event for kids, more colour, more fun and more reasons to say “wow” is never a bad thing.

For AOV, it's exactly what we love about event production; taking a brief, finding the opportunities within the space and creating an experience that feels like the brand, not just an event with a logo on it.
