The Brief

Black and gold is a classic. Which also makes it risky.

Done wrong, it can feel predictable. Done well, it feels premium, confident and timeless.

The brief was to create an annual gala event Melbourne guests would remember. Not just for the awards, but for the atmosphere. The space needed to hold presence at scale, photograph beautifully and evolve throughout the night as the energy shifted.

The Creative Concept

This wasn’t about throwing gold accents into a dark room and calling it a theme.

The concept focused on layering black and gold across every surface and structure, creating depth, contrast and consistency from the moment guests entered.

Large-scale gold mirrored spheres were used as sculptural centrepieces within the space, reflecting light, movement and guests themselves to create a dynamic visual effect that changed depending on where you stood.

Overhead, a grid of geometric ceiling panels, suspended cubes and reflective spheres added dimension and drew attention upward, making the entire room feel activated—not just the floor.

Lighting played a huge role in shaping the experience. Warm gold tones washed the space during arrival and dining, giving everything a rich, premium feel. As the night progressed, lighting shifted into deeper, more energetic states, transforming the room into a high-impact dancefloor environment.

On stage, live entertainment and performance elements were amplified by layered lighting and reflective surfaces, ensuring the focus stayed exactly where it needed to be.

The entire environment was designed to feel cohesive with no random styling pieces, no visual disconnects. Just one clear, consistent story from start to finish.

Event Management & Delivery
